چکیده

Conversion of 2-oxoadipic acid to lysine with Saccharomyces cerevisiae was accomplished in aerated and agitated fermentors under fermentation conditions resembling those used in baker's yeast process. With this process, a yeast product containing about 16 per cent hot water-extractable lysine (calculated as hydrochloride) was obtained. The conversion efficiency of 2-oxoadipic acid to lysine was about 0.63 (weight basis) in a fermentation medium containing molasses as the sole carbon source. Most of the conversion took place during the growth period. Aeration, concentration of the added 2-oxoadipic acid, and time of precursor addition affected the lysine content and the conversion efficiency.

Distinguishing Anhydrate and Gypsum Scale in Mixing Incompatible Surface and Ground Waters During Water Injection Process

Determination of the type of precipitated calcium sulfate in mixing two incompatible injection and formation waters was studied experimentally in this work at two temperatures of 26oC and 80oC. Here the SEM, EDX and XRD techniques have been used to inspect the temperature effects on the morphology, type, and size of the precipitated calcium sulfate crystals. The result...

Presumptive fecal streptococci in environmental samples characterized by one-dimensional sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis.

The use of fecal streptococci as fecal indicators requires better knowledge of the ecology of these bacteria. We isolated 371 presumptive fecal streptococci from environmental samples--domestic wastewater, forest industry wastewater, contaminated surface and seawater, well water, cow dung, bird droppings, and pristine waters--and clustered them according to their protein profiles in one-dimensi...

Evaluation of the antimicrobial effects of extract of Zataria multiflora against oral Streptococci

Dental caries is the most common chronic disease which involve the civilized humankind and is designated as the “disease of the civilization”. Oral Streptococci such as S. sanguis, S. salivarius and S. mutans have a very important role to play in the process of plaque formation. In order to inhibit and control caries process, the growth of such Streptococci must be reined. The purpose of this s...

The Relationship between Cell Surface Hydrophobicity and Antibiotic Resistance of Streptococcal Strains Isolated from Dental Plaque and Caries

Objective Bacterial adhesion is governed by specific and nonspecific interactions such as hydrophobicity. Hydrophobic interactions play a role in the adherence of microorganisms to a wide variety of surfaces and facilitate biofilm formation due to bacterial adhesion. In this article the relation between cell surface hydrophobicity and antibiotic resistance was studied. Materials and Methods ...
